ABOUT US
Young Constructors' Forum is a group of youngsters representing the leading construction firms in Sri Lanka. They have come together in an effort to voice and discuss the concerns of the next generation of engineers and constructors of Sri Lanka.
YCF is formed with a group of youngsters representing the leading construction firms in Sri Lanka. It was founded on February 1, 2011 from a young group of skilled youth constructors.
To provide a forum where young professionals involved in construction industry to work together to promote change and spread best practice;
To bring forward young professionals involved in the construction industry to one forum and to facilitate the exchange of new ideas, opinions and constructive criticism thereby building an environment which promotes positive change;
To improve all aspects of the local construction industry to world class standards through structured initiatives that address the needs of key stakeholders and ensures continuous growth and long term sustainability of its members
To attract young people to the constructions industry and to promote construction industry amongst the young people.
The last year has been an exciting year in which the YCF undertook two major projects. In June 2014, we under-took the largest cricket match in our young history rais-ing over 8 million rupees to fund our largest Social Re-sponsibility Project, 'the Construction of a Hydrotherapy Facility at Mihindu Seth Madura (MSM), Attidiya'. When the YCF was initiated in 2011 one of our main ob-jectives for this forum was to bring individuals and com-panies from across the construction industry together in order to promote good relationships amongst each other. The annual cricket match together with the Social Re-sponsibility Project has no doubt taken the forum to the next level. The Forum which began from humble begin-nings with just 7 members has increased its membership number to 25 by the beginning of this year. As we grow we have shown a great deal of growth in our projects as well. A key initiative this year has been the Memorandum of Understanding signed with World University Service of Canada (WUSC) to facilitate the skill development of young persons in identified districts around the country. As the con-struction of the Hydrotherapy Facility was success-fully completed earlier this year, we are hoping to focus on education and training this year. Identify-ing areas of knowledge gaps in the construction industry encouraging more young persons to active-ly join Sri Lankan Construction Industry. We hope to run workshops and knowledge sharing sessions to bridge these gaps. With a dynamic and committed team, we are confi-dent we will reach great heights this year!
